Profile of Aja-monique M.

Part-Time, 6 Years of Experience

Since 2001 I have tutored math subjects such as Algebra I and II, Geometry, Trigonometry, and Pre-Calculus. Also since 2001, I have tutored English- and Humanities- related subjects like Expository (Essay) writing, Philosophy, Ethnic Studies, Social Studies, and Women/Gender Studies.

Tutoring is fun, important, and meaningful work for me! I enjoy helping others learn in ways appropriate to them and appreciate the communication acheived during tutoring. My goal as a tutor has always been to help my students to NOT need me anymore. Yes, it's true, I lose more clients that way, but at least I get the satisfaction of a job well done :) I make tutoring fun, easily accessible, and chock-full of tips, strategies, and helpful perspectives all tailored to the immediate needs of my students. I specialize in Jr. High, High School, and College levels of the Math and Humanities subjects listed above.

I am a graduate of San Francisco State University and a Los Angeles native. I taught math at Lincoln High School in San Francisco before deciding to move back to Los Angeles. Currently I live in Hollywood. I plan to earn my PhD in philosophy from UCLA beginning in the Fall of 2008. Rock on!
